Nuno’s guitar style is both playful and inventive, as befits the creative visual artist that he has become, following on from his initial success as a musician. Blessed with wonderful aural response, Rebelo is able to play at speed, yet simultaneously track and match changes in key, texture and emotional content. The complete musician
Only Connect was conceived by Noel as a mechanism to introduce small elements of theatricality into the process of free improvisation. Assumed by jazz musicians to be from the classical tradition, and, alternatively, by classical musicians to be a jazz player, Noel is in the fortunate position of having the ability to express any genre that takes his fancy.

Yedo has a wide range of extended techniques and a technical fluency that other wind players could only dream of. His performances are characterised by pure Brazilian bravado and charisma, and a constant striving for the unusual, often blended with humour. Gibson, however, is no ‘one trick pony’, but a sensitive musician who can also respond melodically with elegant lyricism, should the music go in that direction.

Nuno is a very cerebral performer. His percussion is precise and considered, contemplative rather than driven purely by instinct. He describes his approach to playing ‘as if I were conducting a train through endless railways’. Not ‘just’ a drummer churning out standard beats, his musicality shines through all his projects.
If Patricia has a religion, it is the voice. For her, life and singing are one and the same thing, and her commitment to each is all consuming. She effortlessly delves into jazz, fado, pop and contemporary music and combines all these influences within her free improvisation. Instinctively performative, she is rarely static, and loves to dance almost as much as she
adores to sing.

Writing poems is merely one of Bill’s many talents. Along the way, he also had a successful career teaching composition, was involved in theatre, played piano and sang in an American Jazz group, and was a vocal coach to a major musical theatre project. By the way, he also paints, reads philosophy and loves to talk.
